How many applicants are participating?
We are not disclosing the exact number of applicants, though in determining the number of applicants, we looked at a wide array of talented producers, and in keeping with the ITVS mission, made sure to invite a large percentage of ethnically diverse and emerging filmmakers.
oops, I forgot to leave my name.
If you have been invited, can you submit multiple proposals?
No, unfortunately, we can only accept one proposal from each applicant.
I wish that the initial deadline can be reconsidered, it is way too close, I take this proposal seriously. There's not enough time to prepare, I certainly do not want to pull out an ol' short idea from the top shelf and throw some scifi dust on it. The crossroads we're standing on now with the coming elections, the energy crisis and the economy should give us a little pause. We need a three week extension on the initial deadline.
To respond to "d'gasman": we understand your concerns and appreciate your dedication to this series. Unfortunately, ITVS has a specific timeline to roll out this series and cannot delay that process by offering extensions. There may be a second season of the series, so if you feel you are not able to assemble a compelling submission this year, we are open to considering you for a possible second season.
i don't see an Application Form attached to the original RFP. can you direct me to it? or can this be re-sent to us?
thanks,
abigail
Abigail - the application form appears as a word doc attached to the invitation email.
For the completed work sample that we include with the application, I'm wondering which would be the best to use: A 15 min. short film that is the same length and has some fantasy/magical realism elements similar to this project but isn't my most recent work or a feature that is obviously more recent, longer, bigger budget, etc.?
Thanks.
In response to Sam: if you have completed a short film that is stylistically similar to AMERICAN VISIONS, we recommend submitting it as your completed work sample, however if you feel you have a stronger sample that was produced more recently, you are welcome to submit that as an additional completed work sample.
Hello Richard, Karim,
I am referring the relevant sample work requested. I have already sent (to Richard Saiz) a short film of mine, Of Wanderlust. Do you need me to provide also a director's reel with other samples of my works?
Let me know
Frederic
You may submit whichever completed work sample you think best demonstrates your capabilities to deliver your proposed project.
Should the treatment include some description of the intended visual style or any other info beyond a description of the story?
In response to Aaron: Good question. The most critical element of the treatment is the complete detail of your proposed project's story, from beginning to end. That said, it would also be useful to see directors address their intended visual approach to the project, should it be greenlit for production. However, we recommend keeping this stylistic discussion short - ideally, one paragraph.
Is it necessary to have a co-applicant? or could only one person apply? thanks
No, co-applicants are not required.
